If you have an app running other than the ones you keep in the doc, say, Pages, wouldn't it ruin the whole thing. Or you created a tab icon for every app?

I created tabs for the apps I most frequently use... So, yes, if I opened an app without a tab it would look a little off. If it's an app with a tab (that's not on the dock), it will just add another tab to the dock while that app is running.
